Schools in Perak to Operate as Usual Starting Tomorrow

IPOH – All educational institutions under the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) in Perak will operate as usual starting Monday, October 12, 2026, following Air Pollutant Index (API) readings across the state that remain below the threshold of 150.

Perak State Education Director Zulkafli Mohamed Mokhtar said the highest API readings recorded at all monitoring stations across the state as of 2pm on Sunday, October 11, remained below the threshold.

Accordingly, the decision to continue normal school operations was made based on the current air quality readings.

Meanwhile, the Perak State Education Department (JPN Perak) expressed its utmost appreciation for the concern and royal decree of His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, regarding the safety and health of students amid the haze affecting the country.

JPN Perak also stated that API readings would continue to be monitored from time to time in collaboration with the District Education Offices (PPD).

This is to ensure that any follow-up measures can be implemented in accordance with the guidelines and directives issued by the MOE, depending on developments in air quality.

At the same time, parents and guardians have been urged to remain alert to the latest developments and follow official announcements issued by JPN Perak.

They have also been encouraged to cooperate with schools to ensure that their children’s safety, health and well-being remain protected throughout the haze situation.

JPN Perak stressed that the safety, health and welfare of students and all members of the education community would remain a priority in every action taken during this period.
