IPOH: Passengers have expressed frustration over recurring escalator breakdowns at the Ipoh Railway Station, with the problem persisting for several days and causing inconvenience, particularly to elderly commuters accessing the platforms.
An Electric Train Service (ETS) passenger, Mohd Azri Ahmad, 32, said he was disappointed that the recurring problem had yet to be resolved, making it difficult for passengers to move between the station concourse and platforms.

He said currently, only the escalator leading to the platform adjacent to Platform 1 was operational.
“I understand that the escalator has been out of service for several days, but it has yet to be fully repaired.
“This situation is certainly inconvenient for passengers, especially the elderly, who have to use the stairs to get up to or down from the platforms,” he told Ipoh Echo/Peraktastic.

He said the issue should be addressed immediately, particularly with the Deepavali celebrations next week expected to bring an increase in the number of passengers using the ETS.
He added that failure to repair the escalator before the festive period could lead to congestion and further inconvenience for station users.
“The relevant authorities must take immediate action and ensure the facility is fully repaired.
“Do not allow the damage to remain unattended for too long, as it affects the comfort and safety of passengers,” he said.
