IPOH – The Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT) has channelled a RM20,000 contribution to the Little India Ipoh Traders Association to help boost business activities in conjunction with the upcoming Deepavali celebrations.

Its minister, Nga Kor Ming, said the contribution is expected to support cultural programmes and enhance the festive atmosphere in the area.
He said this during a walkabout visit to engage with traders and the local community in Little India Ipoh last night.
According to him, another significant development is the provision of Little India’s first public toilet in 100 years.

The public toilet, built around the concept of Clean, Attractive and Fragrant (BMW), is part of efforts to upgrade public facilities under the MADANI Government.
Nga said the facility brings the total number of public toilets successfully built or upgraded under the initiative to 12,000.
He added that improvements to public amenities would provide greater convenience for traders and visitors to the popular destination.

The initiative is also part of preparations to welcome more tourists to Ipoh ahead of Visit Malaysia Year.
He encouraged the public to visit Little India Ipoh to shop and support local businesses in conjunction with Deepavali.
Nga made the remarks in a statement shared following the visit and the announcement of the initiatives.
