By Zaki MS

KUALA KANGSAR – Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, has reminded members of the Perak Council of State and palace officials not to misuse the royal name, palace influence or titles for personal gain.

His Royal Highness said their positions must not be used as a means to accumulate wealth, secure business opportunities or interfere in matters beyond their responsibilities.

He also stressed that corruption, abuse of power and any actions that could tarnish the reputation of the royal institution must be avoided.

The Sultan said they must also ensure they are not exploited to provide improper assistance to any party, particularly in ways that could put pressure on others.

His Royal Highness delivered the remarks during the 175th Meeting of the Perak Council of State at Istana Iskandariah here.

Sultan Nazrin also reminded those concerned to exercise caution when using social media, safeguard confidential information and refrain from spreading unverified information.

He stressed that opinions must be conveyed appropriately to prevent slander, disputes and misunderstandings within society.

Meanwhile, His Royal Highness urged members of the Perak Council of State and palace officials to stay away from conflicts, power struggles and factionalism.

Instead, they should maintain close ties with the people and pay particular attention to vulnerable groups, including senior citizens, persons with disabilities and orphans.

The Sultan also emphasised the importance of respecting the diversity of races, religions and backgrounds in strengthening unity in the state, in accordance with the Federal Constitution and the law.

In concluding his address, Sultan Nazrin called on every palace official to set a good example for their families, officers and the wider community by discharging their responsibilities with integrity.

“Prove that those who are close to the Ruler are also close to their responsibilities, and that those who are honoured also know how to respect others,” His Royal Highness said.
