By Julian Matthews

Envy:
The hinge that seethes at the doorknob for getting all the credit.
The rarely opened backdoor jealous of the kitchen window
for letting the sun in every morn.

Gluttony:
The bookshelf demanding to be double stacked with books.
The books purchased online that are never read.

Greed:
The wardrobe filling up with clothes with no occasion to be worn.
The washing machine grumbling despite begging earlier to be overloaded.

Lust:
The tongue of the libidinous flame making the candle weep.
Shadows contorting on the wall all night in a fleshdance.

Pride:
The stuck bay window that refuses to budge to be cleaned.
The ceiling fan blowing at a conservative 3 when it wanted to fly at a mighty 5.

Sloth:
The couch that sunk in the middle over time like everything else that never got fixed.
The Monday hangover stupor after another drunken weekend.

Wrath:
The fire that raged through the home and razed it to the ground.
