IPOH: Ungku Omar Polytechnic (PUO), in collaboration with Gerik Community College, Jeli Polytechnic, and Bagan Datuk Polytechnic, has once again been selected by Singapore Polytechnic to host the Learning Express (LeX) Program.

The program involves 30 students from Singapore Polytechnic, including three accompanying lecturers.

Also participating are 30 students from PUO, Jeli Polytechnic, Bagan Datuk Polytechnic, and Gerik Community College.

LeX 2024 focuses on three locations with different project scopes.

Among these is a fish farming project using BioFloc technology, undertaken by participants from the Community Rehabilitation Center (PDK) in Kg. Jeli, in partnership with Jeli Polytechnic’s expertise.

Another project involves deer farming under the Integrated Village Economic Development Project (PROSPEK), managed by the Lenggong District and Land Office, Perak.

Additionally, there are projects for planting lemongrass and producing tempeh, each managed by individual entrepreneurs who are residents of Batu 8, Kg. Bendang Siam, Changkat Jering.

The program aims to expose students to applying the Design Thinking concept in real-world contexts.

Participants employ design thinking principles through an empathetic approach to address actual problems faced by the target subjects, generating effective solutions.

Communication and collaboration across cultures, particularly between participants from Singapore and Malaysia, are key elements of this program.
