MUALLIM: The number of flood victims in the Muallim district has increased to 399 people on Wednesday, up from 52 people last night.
According to a spokesperson for the District Disaster Management Committee, the flood disaster has affected two areas, namely Kampung Chinggong and Kampung Sungai Sekiah.
He explained that the victims, which include 86 families, have been placed in temporary evacuation centers (PPS) at Dewan Kampung Asli Chinggong and Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Sungai Sekiah.
“There are 380 victims from 77 families placed at the PPS Dewan Kampung Asli Chinggong and 19 people from nine families at Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Sungai Sekiah,” he said in a statement here today.
Meanwhile, the Malaysian Meteorological Department has forecast that most areas in Perak will experience rain in the afternoon and evening today.
