Resolve Clogged Drains, Flash Floods in Kampung Baru- Desa Changkat Residents

BY: Aida Aziz

BATU GAJAH: The issue of clogged drains, which has led to frequent flash floods in Kampung Baru Desa Changkat, remains unresolved.

Previously reported by Ipoh Echo and Peraktastic, the matter was said to have caught the attention of the Batu Gajah District Council (MDBG).

However, residents claim that no improvements have been made so far.

According to a resident, B. Nishalini, the recent heavy rain caused water to enter several homes in the area.

“On January 14, MDBG representatives came to inspect the situation, but until now, no preventive measures have been taken.

“How much longer do we have to endure this? Every time it rains heavily, we worry about water entering our homes.

“We have raised this issue with multiple parties, but nothing has been done. Our only hope is for the authorities to resolve the drainage issue here as soon as possible,” she said.

Previously, Ipoh Echo and Peraktastic reported that drains in Kampung Baru Desa Changkat had been covered with wooden pallets for years, posing safety hazards while also contributing to flooding issues.

Nishalini claimed that several complaints had been lodged with the local authorities, namely MDBG, but no action had been taken.
