MANJUNG: Several areas in Manjung and Pulau Pangkor have experienced flash floods and fallen trees following continuous heavy rain since last night.
The incident, which occurred from 1 AM to 5:30 AM, affected many homes, causing flooding.
The Seri Manjung Fire and Rescue Station received emergency calls regarding floods and fallen trees around its jurisdiction.
The operation commander from Seri Manjung Fire and Rescue, PBK I Zul Iqmal Ayob, stated that the team had mobilized personnel and machinery to the affected areas.
“Upon receiving calls from the public, our team rushed to the location to help residents move electrical items to higher ground.
“We also cut down fallen trees on main roads to ensure smooth vehicle movement from both directions,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM) also collaborated with the fire department and other agencies.
MPM staff immediately began recovery efforts and cut down trees that posed a risk to public safety.
Meanwhile, the Member of the State Legislative Assembly (ADUN) for Pangkor, Norhaslinda Zakaria, mentioned that as of noon today, the road leading to Teluk Senangin and the junction to Batu 4 Segari was still flooded but passable for vehicles.
“Drivers should be cautious as the road in front of the Simpang Batu 4 junction has been closed, and only one lane is open for use,” she said.
She also thanked the workers from the Belati Wangsa concession company for managing traffic control on the roads.
They have also distributed breakfast assistance, donated by the public, to several affected households in Kampung Padang Tembak and Batu 3 Segari.
