IPOH: Learning martial arts is a great initiative, especially for young people.
At the same time, martial arts, which also instills discipline, can shape young people into responsible individuals.
Recognizing this importance, the Shitokai Ryu Karate Club Ipoh has started karate classes at the Kandedutha Muthumariamman Temple Hall, Buntong.
According to the coach of the Shitokai Ryu Ipoh club, R. Arunasalam, this is also the second branch of the club.
“We took the initiative to open the second branch here to provide an opportunity for the youth in Buntong to learn the art of karate.
“Besides learning martial arts, activities like this can prevent young people from getting involved in unhealthy activities,” he said.
In conjunction with the opening of the club’s second branch, a karate martial arts demonstration was performed by the trainees.
Among the distinguished guests present were the Chairman of the Kinta Social Welfare, Sports, and Cultural Association, P. Uvarajan, and Dato’ Sharma.
In his speech, Uvarajan praised the efforts of the Shitokai Ryu Karate Club Ipoh to encourage youth participation in martial arts activities.
“We support such initiatives, which at the same time produce active and healthy young people.
“If the youth use their free time to learn martial arts like karate, it will benefit them in the future,” he said.
