IPOH: Zamakhshari Hanipah, Deputy Director-General (Planning & Disaster Preparedness) of NADMA under the Prime Minister’s Department, has been appointed as the new Mayor of Ipoh.
The letter of appointment was officially presented by the Perak Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Saarani Mohamad.
Among the top positions Zamakhshari has held include Director-General of the National Solid Waste Management Department, Deputy Director-General (Management) of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) Malaysia, and Director of the National Security Council (NSC) for both Terengganu and Selangor.
He has also served as the District Officer of Hulu Perak, Gerik, where he concurrently held the position of President of the Gerik District Council, as well as Assistant Director of the NSC in Perak.
In a statement, Saarani said Zamakhshari’s extensive experience in public administration would help drive progress in the city of Ipoh.
“His vast experience in government administration is a great advantage in leading the Ipoh City Council toward more efficient and effective governance.
“I am confident that under his leadership, the aspiration to make Ipoh a smart and sustainable city will be more fully realized.
“Congratulations and best wishes to Mr. Zamakhshari in fulfilling this responsibility. May he continue to excel in serving the people of Ipoh,” he said.
