RM350,000 upgrade for Lawan Kuda Hawker Centre

By Zaki Salleh

GOPENG: The Lawan Kuda Hawker Centre is set to get a fresh new look as upgrading and redevelopment works are currently underway.

Once completed, the upgraded centre will offer greater comfort to customers and allow traders to operate their businesses more efficiently.

The hawker centre had been facing issues such as detached ceilings, prompting the implementation of this upgrade as a long-term solution.

The RM350,000 project, funded by the Kampar District Council (MDK), includes the replacement of the roof and ceiling, as well as the reinstallation of lighting and fans with a centralized control system.

Other improvements involve repairing damaged stall roller shutters and repainting the building. The project is expected to be completed within three months.

Some hawkers have been temporarily relocated to the Kampung Baru Lawan Kuda basketball court, while others have halted operations until the upgrade is complete.

MDK is also assisting by providing basic amenities such as water supply, electricity, and tables and chairs for traders at the temporary site.
