Hospital Fatimah recently introduced a new chapter in knee care with the launch of Robotic-Assisted Total Knee Replacement Surgery. The event drew a full house to the Brother Liborius Auditorium, with board members, resident and visiting consultants, general practitioners, insurance partners and invited guests in attendance.

Medical Director Dr. Liaw Kok Toon welcomed attendees, sharing the hospital’s goal of integrating advanced technology with quality care. “This robotic system enhances our surgeons’ precision. It supports their expertise and benefits patients with a more predictable surgery, less pain and potentially faster recovery,” he said.
The newly acquired VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution makes Hospital Fatimah the first hospital in Perak to offer this fourth-generation robotic system for knee replacement surgery. It features a high-speed camera, real-time data feedback, and integrates with the ATTUNE Knee System to deliver a smoother and more natural range of movement post-surgery.

Unlike older systems, this advanced robot does not require a pre-operative CT scan, reducing prep time and radiation exposure. The technology also enables near-perfect implant positioning tailored to each patient’s unique anatomy. The result is a shorter operation time, greater accuracy, less post-operative pain and potentially faster recovery.
An informative session by Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. Mok Chung helped guests understand the difference between robotic-assisted and traditional knee replacements. He highlighted the system’s consistency, suitability for unique knee shapes, and ability to improve patient outcomes with greater precision.

Hospital Fatimah remains committed to offering both robotic and traditional options, depending on patient needs. The choice is always guided by the attending surgeon’s assessment.
In conjunction with the launch, the hospital announced an exclusive limited-time promotional package for the first 20 patients, priced at RM32,888. This package includes:
- Full robotic-assisted total knee replacement surgery with implant
- Four-day hospital stay in a twin-bedded room
- Orthopaedic consultations
- Post-operative physiotherapy

Those interested can consult with any of the hospital’s orthopaedic surgeons who are trained in the VELYS system, or send a WhatsApp message to 016-259 5377.
Guests were also invited to tour Premium Ward 3B, which features 18 beds across two single rooms and eight double rooms. The upgraded ward is designed to provide greater comfort, privacy and support for post-surgery recovery.

With this latest development, Hospital Fatimah strengthens its focus on combining innovation with a patient-first approach. For those seeking advanced orthopaedic care close to home, robotic-assisted knee surgery is now available in Ipoh.
