IPOH— The Housing and Local Government Ministry (KPKT) is stepping up efforts to improve the people’s wellbeing through the development of 1,000 MADANI Recreational Parks (TRM) nationwide.
As part of this initiative, Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming today officiated four of the 12 parks built within the Ipoh City Council’s (MBI) jurisdiction, which were completed in July as scheduled.

Nga said the government approved an allocation of RM5.4 million in 2024 for the construction of the 12 TRM in MBI areas, with each site receiving RM450,000.
“Each TRM must comply with requirements to be senior citizen and disabled-friendly, while also offering facilities that promote an inclusive, healthy lifestyle and improve the quality of life for all.
“These include children’s playgrounds, outdoor gyms, pedestrian walkways and jogging tracks, gazebos, park benches as well as lighting for safety at night,” he told reporters after the launch.
Nga stressed that the success of the initiative reflects the MADANI government’s commitment under Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s leadership to create urban environments that are more sustainable, liveable, safe and inclusive.
“By the end of this year, 216 TRM will be completed, benefiting hundreds of thousands of residents in the areas involved,” he added.
He also urged the public not to waste the government’s efforts by committing vandalism, which would incur significant repair costs.
“KPKT, through collaboration with 156 local authorities across the country, will continue to strengthen the TRM initiative as a platform to enhance public wellbeing, foster community unity and support the Malaysia Healthy Agenda,” he said.
