The Kiwanis Club of Bandaraya Ipoh (KCBI) has been serving children across Perak since 2002.
This year, the club is setting its sights higher than ever before with its upcoming fundraising dinner, the Rhythms of Care Charity Night, on November 27, 2025, at Restoran Super HLT.

The goal: to raise RM100,000 to support 500 rural students with essential school supplies, double the number of children supported in past projects.
Each student will receive RM200 worth of necessities, including a school bag, Pallas shoes and socks, a uniform, stationery, a water tumbler, and a food pack.

Beyond Supplies: A Legacy of Care

KCBI is part of Kiwanis International, a global organisation dedicated to “Serving the Children of the World.”
Over the years, they have:
- Distributed food packs during the pandemic under the White Flag Food Program, benefiting more than 2,000 families.
- Donated laptops to rural schools in Perak.
- Partnered with TGV Cinemas to give children from homes their first movie theatre experience.
- Installed little libraries and distributed hundreds of dictionaries to students.
- Provided tablets for children from low-income families and supported paediatric mental health care.

But the heart of their mission goes beyond physical needs.
As Organising Chairman, Sam Mah, and Project Chairperson, Ivy Chua, recalled, volunteers once celebrated a child’s birthday during a school visit.
To their surprise, the child admitted it was the first birthday he had ever celebrated.
“Moments like this remind us why we keep going,” they said.
Powered by Volunteers and Community Support

Every member of KCBI, from its president to its organisers, serves as a volunteer.
They balance full-time jobs while dedicating their time and energy to ensure no child is left behind.
“All profits go directly to the children,” noted President Hor Keng Seng during the press conference held at 1969 Business Suites at De Garden Ipoh.
CEO of 1969 D’Kelly Hotel, Ian Chua, shared that his group of hotels — D’Kelly, 1969 Business Suites Ipoh Garden and Botani — are contributing RM3,000 and pledged to provide materials whenever possible.
“The world lacks love, and these children deserve more of it,” he said.
