Solar LED lighting system supports smart city development in Perak

By Aida Aziz

IPOH: The installation of Light Emitting Diode (LED) solar lighting systems in the state is not only more energy-efficient and durable, but it also generates clean energy and reduces carbon emissions.

A recent visit by the Chairman of the Perak Housing and Local Government Committee, Sandrea Ng Shy Ching, to PMW Industries’ factory in Lahat helped strengthen cooperation between the state government, local authorities (PBT), and the green energy sector.

“Recently, I had the opportunity to visit PMW Industries, a local company involved in the manufacturing and installation of solar LED lighting systems.

“Green technologies like this open up many new opportunities, not only in generating clean energy and reducing carbon emissions, but also in supporting the state’s direction toward sustainable and competitive smart city development.

“Collaboration between the state government, local authorities, local industries, and the green energy sector is very important to ensure that Perak continues to be at the forefront of implementing the sustainable energy and green economy agenda,” she said.

LEDs are semiconductor components that produce light when an electric current passes through them.

Unlike traditional incandescent bulbs that rely on heat to produce light, LED technology is more energy-efficient, lasts longer, and emits cooler light.
