By Zaki Salleh

KAMPAR: Although Perak was once known as a state rich in the tin mining industry, many people are still not fully aware of its history.

This is why Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Kampar organised an educational visit to the Kinta Tin Mining Museum here.

The museum is one of the key educational destinations in Perak.

The visit was led by Nor Hisyam Zulkifli, the accompanying teacher who also played a role in guiding the students throughout the tour.

The main objective of the visit was to introduce students to local history, particularly the development of the tin mining industry that once transformed the economic and social landscape of Kampar.

During the visit, the participants had the opportunity to view historical artefacts and learn about traditional mining techniques once used by the people of Kampar.

Interactive exhibits and information on the growth of the tin industry, as well as the social and economic impact of mining on the local community, provided students with an invaluable learning experience.

Commenting on the visit, Nor Hisyam Zulkifli said that the experience gave students a clearer understanding of the importance of Kampar’s tin mining heritage.

In addition, the visit also aimed to shape the students’ identity as children of Kampar who appreciate and take pride in their roots.
