IPOH: Street lighting, particularly in the city, is an important aspect in ensuring public safety, including brightening poorly lit areas.
Although several street lights in Ipoh have been repaired and maintained following public complaints, it is understood that many remain faulty, leaving roads in darkness.

The concern was raised by an Ipoh resident who is mindful of the city’s image, saying that although some may view the issue as trivial, it carries significant importance for daily road users.
Among the faulty streetlights in need of repair are those along Jalan Sultan Idris Shah, Jalan Raja Permaisuri Bainun, Jalan C.M. Yusoff, Jalan Tokong, and Jalan Pasir Puteh.
“It cannot be denied that some units have been repaired and are functioning at night.
“However, many lamp posts are still not working and have yet to be repaired. Some of the issues I reported since October last year have seen no repair work carried out.
“Some have been repaired but have become faulty again. The authorities should conduct regular monitoring and carry out proper maintenance for the benefit of the public,” he said.
