Celebrate Festivities, Don’t Leave Waste Behind

By Zaki Salleh

IPOH: The Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Corporation (SWCorp) has urged the public to take responsibility in maintaining environmental cleanliness throughout the festive season.

In a statement, the agency said cleanliness should not be neglected as it concerns public well-being and the image of the local community.

SWCorp stressed that the management of firecracker waste, the conduct of religious activities, and the organisation of celebrations in public areas must be carried out prudently and in a well-planned manner.

The measures are important to prevent pollution, public disturbance and safety risks.

“Every individual must play their part by ensuring that rubbish is disposed of in designated areas and not left in public spaces,” the statement said.

The agency also reminded that littering is an offence under the Solid Waste and Public Cleansing Management Act 2007 (Act 672), and offenders may face appropriate action.

In this regard, the public is encouraged to practise responsible behaviour during festive celebrations by ensuring the environment remains clean, pleasant and safe.
