IPOH — River conditions at the Jalan Raja Bridge in Gugusan Manjoi here have improved and are no longer piled with debris that had accumulated following recent heavy rain and floods.
Cleaning works and community efforts carried out by various parties, including volunteers over the past few days, were continued today by the Jabatan Pengairan dan Saliran (Department of Irrigation and Drainage) (JPS), which removed large logs along the riverbanks.

Each time heavy rain hits the Manjoi area, residents have expressed concern over the sudden rise in river levels that could overflow onto nearby roads, particularly due to the low-lying bridge and road structure.
It is hoped that long-term measures will be taken to reduce risks or prevent water from overflowing onto the roads again.
The public is also urged to be aware of the harmful effects of dumping rubbish into rivers, which can ultimately lead to disasters and flash floods due to the accumulation of waste such as plastic, bottles, and polystyrene.
