IPOH: Two local men were arrested early this morning after a police chase in Bercham on suspicion of involvement in cable theft.
Ipoh district police chief ACP Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the incident occurred at about 2.30am when members of the Motorcycle Patrol Unit (MPV) were conducting routine patrols and spotted a suspicious vehicle.

He said the driver refused to stop when instructed and attempted to flee, prompting a pursuit by the patrol team.
“In an attempt to escape, the suspect drove dangerously before crashing into a roadside pole.
“With assistance from several other police units, the vehicle was successfully intercepted, and both suspects were detained,” he said in a statement today.

A search of the vehicle uncovered a quantity of suspected methamphetamine as well as tools believed to have been used for cable theft activities.
The suspects, aged between 18 and their 30s, have been remanded to assist in further investigations.
