IPOH: Klinik Kesihatan Buntong has begun implementing its Obesity Clinic through the Multidisciplinary Integrated Management of Obesity (MIMO) approach starting May 4, 2026.
The initiative reflects the clinic’s ongoing commitment to strengthening primary healthcare services, particularly by addressing obesity through an integrated approach that involves multiple healthcare disciplines.
The approach emphasises holistic patient management covering multiple aspects, including clinical intervention, nutrition, physical activity and behavioural change support.
This comes as obesity remains one of the major risk factors for various non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and cardiovascular disease.
On the first day of implementation, three patients registered and began the planned intervention programme.
Although introduced on a small scale, the initiative marks an important step towards expanding access to more systematic and effective obesity management services at primary healthcare facilities.
The initiative is seen as an early effort that will continue to be strengthened in improving the health and wellbeing of the people of Perak.
