For many senior citizens, television is more than a source of entertainment. It provides daily companionship, access to news, religious programmes and a connection to the world beyond their immediate surroundings.
With that in mind, the Rotary Club of Ipoh donated three Samsung Smart Televisions to the residents of Rumah Sejahtera (Ipoh) Jelapang on 29 May 2026.

The televisions were officially handed over during a ceremony attended by Yang Berhormat Tuan M. Kulasegaran, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) and Member of Parliament for Ipoh Barat.
Rumah Sejahtera Jelapang is a registered residential NGO elderly care centre. For residents living in a shared care setting, facilities such as televisions can help create moments of routine, conversation and shared activity during the day.
While the donation may appear simple, Rotary members hope the televisions will enrich daily life for the home’s residents by providing entertainment, information, spiritual content and opportunities for shared viewing.

Speaking at the event, YB Kulasegaran highlighted the importance of giving back to society and supporting those in need. He encouraged continued community involvement and reminded attendees that building a caring society requires the participation of many people and organisations.
The Rotary Club of Ipoh thanked YB Kulasegaran for supporting the project and contributing towards its success. The club also expressed appreciation to the management and staff of Rumah Sejahtera for their ongoing commitment to the welfare of the residents.

Special thanks were extended to Past President Martin, who sponsored refreshments for the event, as well as the Rotarians and supporters whose contributions helped make the donation possible.
Founded in 1930, the Rotary Club of Ipoh continues to support community projects guided by Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self. Through initiatives such as this, the club hopes to improve quality of life for those who may benefit from a little extra support and connection.
