Dog falls into drain, firemen come to the rescue

By Aida Aziz

IPOH — The duties of the fire and rescue department go far beyond putting out blazes or responding to natural disasters; their scope of work is much broader than the public realizes.

From rescuing humans from hardships and accidents to saving distressed animals, the responsibilities of these firefighters are vast and varied.

In their latest mission, personnel from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station swung into action for a humanitarian service to save a dog that had fallen into a large monsoon drain in Taman Canning here on Friday.

The dog appeared weak and unable to move, but thankfully, firefighters arrived in time to lift the canine safely back onto the road.

Credit goes to the concerned member of the public who alerted the rescue team, as well as a big thank you to the firefighters involved in the operation.
