IPOH: This is not a competition to find Ipoh’s greenest streetlight or the city’s most creative environmentally themed decoration.
Instead, it is about a streetlight almost entirely engulfed by creeping vines, with both its pole and lamp covered by dense foliage along Persiaran Jelapang 4 in Taman Silibin.

While the sight may appear amusing at first glance, it raises genuine concerns over public safety and inadequate lighting, as the vegetation has effectively obscured the streetlight.
A check at the location found that the overgrown vines have yet to be cleared by the relevant authorities despite images of the streetlight going viral on social media and attracting widespread public attention.

Members of the public have urged the responsible authorities to conduct regular inspections of streetlights throughout Ipoh to ensure they are functioning properly and are not obstructed by overgrown trees or vegetation.
For those curious enough to see it for themselves, the streetlight is located along Persiaran Jelapang 4 in Taman Silibin. If there were ever a competition for the best “green-themed” decorative streetlight, this one might just take the top prize.
