PESDeaf Held 1st Malaysian Deaf Table Tennis Championship

The Perak Deaf Sports Association (PESDeaf) held their 1st Malaysian Deaf Table Tennis Championship on 18 to 19 July 2026 at the Perak Squash Arena, Ipoh. This inaugural tournament was organised by PESDeaf and had brought together deaf athletes from all around the country.

The tournament also served as a platform for selecting athletes who will represent Malaysia at the Asia Pacific Deaf Multi Sports Championship 2026 (APDMSC 2026) which will be held in Penang from 3 to 10 October 2026.

Ensuring that the tournament would run smoothly, were Muhammad Shahril bin Mohd Saupi, as the Director of Sports Development Unit (UPS) Manager, together with Lam Wai Hoong, Vice President of the Malaysian Deaf Sports Association (MSDeaf), assumed the responsibility as Technical Head in collaboration with Johnson Sim from the Perak State Table Tennis Association.

PESDeaf congratulated the contingents of Johor, Sarawak, Federal Territory, Penang and Pahang for their success in winning medals during this tournament and also expressed its highest appreciation and gratitude to all state contingents, officials, coaches, athletes, volunteers and all parties who have provided their commitment and strong support throughout the tournament.

They also hope that the Malaysian Deaf Table Tennis Championship will continue to grow as a platform to strengthen the development of deaf sports in Malaysia.

The Closing Ceremony was officiated in the presence of Mr. Mohd Syaiful Fahmi bin Mohd Salleh, Senior Assistant Director (Sports), Perak State Youth and Sports Department, Mr. Shahdan bin Mohd Hashim, Head of MAKSAK & Para SUKMA Unit, Perak State Sports Council and Mr. Kamarzaman bin Haji Harun, Secretary-General of the Malaysian Deaf Sports Association (MSDeaf).
