IPOH: The public has been urged not to take lightly the sudden onset of a high fever accompanied by symptoms such as muscle and joint pain, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and a red skin rash, as these could be warning signs of dengue fever.
The Health Department said dengue can become severe and even life-threatening if patients do not seek treatment at an early stage.

Individuals experiencing these symptoms are therefore advised to seek immediate medical examination and treatment at the nearest health clinic or hospital to prevent complications.
In addition to seeking prompt medical care, the public is encouraged to take preventive measures to protect themselves and their families from Aedes mosquito bites.
These include eliminating mosquito breeding sites at least once a week, using mosquito repellent, wearing clothing that covers the arms and legs, and ensuring homes and surrounding areas are kept clean and free from stagnant water.
The department also reminded the public that early detection and prompt treatment can significantly reduce the risk of complications from dengue while preventing patients’ conditions from deteriorating.
Members of the public were further urged to play their part in keeping residential areas free of Aedes mosquito breeding grounds to help curb the spread of the disease.
