IPOH – The city of Ipoh is set to become the focal point for regional leaders.
This follows its selection as the host city for the 2026 ASEAN-China Ministerial Roundtable on Construction and Housing (ACMROCH), to be held from 31 July to 2 August.
ACMROCH 2026 is organised by Malaysia’s Ministry of Housing and Local Government (KPKT).
ASEAN Secretary-General Dr. Kao Kim Hourn will lead the ASEAN Secretariat delegation to the Ministerial Roundtable.
Dr Kao will also deliver a special address on enhancing ASEAN-China cooperation in developing smart and sustainable cities.
Held under the theme “Sustainable Cities, Quality Housing, Cohesive Communities,” the meeting brings together ministers and senior officials from ASEAN member states and the People’s Republic of China.
The roundtable aims to strengthen strategic cooperation in sustainable urban development, quality housing, and a resilient construction sector.
These efforts are aligned with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (SDGs) and the New Urban Agenda (NUA).
ACMROCH 2026 also serves as a platform for participating governments to exchange policies, experiences, and best practices.
In addition, the conference places strong emphasis on enhancing industry collaboration through the adoption of technology and innovation in the construction sector.
Cooperation among cities will also be strengthened to foster inclusive, liveable, and people-centred communities.
The hosting of the conference reflects Malaysia’s commitment to expanding regional cooperation and partnerships.
It also reinforces collective efforts to address future challenges in urban development and housing.
ACMROCH 2026 is expected to catalyse building more sustainable, inclusive, and resilient cities for the well-being of future generations.
