BATU GAJAH: The Batu Gajah District Council (MDBG) distributed leaflets on dog licensing to members of the public at the Jalan Pandak Akhat night market here as part of efforts to provide information and raise awareness of dog owners’ responsibilities.
MDBG said the initiative was also aimed at strengthening a more community-friendly and approachable approach in addressing dog-related issues within its administrative area.
MDBG enforcement officers also engaged with community members and shared useful information about responsible dog ownership.

Among the information provided was the requirement to obtain a dog licence.
The annual licence fee is only RM10 per dog, with applications and renewals conveniently available online.
The public was also reminded of their responsibilities as pet owners, including ensuring that their dogs do not roam freely in order to safeguard public safety, cleanliness and community harmony.

The ground engagement initiative was carried out to ensure that information reaches the community directly while providing residents with an easier and more relaxed platform to seek clarification on dog-related matters.
MDBG believes that addressing dog-related issues should not rely solely on enforcement action, but also requires education, public awareness and cooperation from the community.
