Buildcon Concrete Sdn. Bhd. (BCSB), a subsidiary of YTL Cement Berhad, brought together road safety and community care in an initiative on 6 September at MÙ Hotel, Ipoh, Perak.

Under the theme “Together for Safer Roads. Together for a Healthier Community,” the company conducted its annual Defensive Safety Driver Training alongside a community blood donation programme, drawing participation from its drivers, employees and members of the public.

The blood donation drive, held from 8.30 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., recorded 49 successful donors, 29 from BCSB and 20 from the public, including MÙ Hotel staff.

The programme was carried out in collaboration with MÙ Hotel Ipoh, which provided a function room for the blood donation activity and encouraged its staff and guests to take part. It was also supported by the Jabatan Perubatan Transfusi, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun, under the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM).

An appreciation certificate and recognition session was held to acknowledge the partnership, involving Mr Jeff Lee, Assistant General Manager of BCSB; Ms Lanny Lee, Sales Director of MÙ Hotel; and Dr Yus of the Jabatan Perubatan Transfusi, Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun.

BCSB also expressed its appreciation to Mr Anil A/L M.I. Raman, Senior General Manager of the Health and Safety Department, who joined the blood donation initiative and is himself a regular donor.

The programme reflects BCSB’s commitment to employee wellbeing, road safety awareness and community health, while strengthening its safety culture and collaboration with external stakeholders. By pairing its annual driver safety training with a meaningful community cause, the company demonstrated how workplace safety and social responsibility can come together in one integrated effort.
