IPOH – Tapah District Council (MDT) has received recognition after being awarded the Standard Accounting System for Government Agencies (SAGA) Compliance Certificate.
The award recognises the council’s compliance with established accounting system standards.
The certificate was presented at the 2026 SAGA Compliance Certificate Awards Ceremony (MASS 2026), organised by the Accountant General’s Department of Malaysia (JANM) in Putrajaya.
The certificate was presented by Accountant General of Malaysia Nasran Omar to MDT President Azmi Abd Aziz and MDT Secretary Syamsul Istar Ibrahim Istar.
MDT is also the sixth local authority (PBT) under the supervision of the Perak State Secretary to receive the recognition.
MDT uses the ePBT 2.0 Accounting Application System, developed by the Department of Local Government (JKT), and obtained SAGA compliance approval on March 26, 2025.
The implementation of SAGA plays a key role in strengthening internal controls, improving the accuracy of financial information, and enhancing accountability, integrity and financial governance in the public sector.
It is not merely about complying with circulars or obtaining a certificate of recognition, but also about strengthening financial management standards and governance.
