BATU GAJAH – Hospital Batu Gajah has introduced an Otorhinolaryngology (ORL) Teleconsultation Service in collaboration with Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun (HRPB) in Ipoh.
The initiative uses real-time endoscopy technology to enable the sharing of patient examination findings between the two hospitals.
Through this service, ORL medical officers at Hospital Batu Gajah can communicate directly with ORL specialists at HRPB.
The technology enables specialists to provide expert opinions, discuss cases and plan appropriate treatments based on examination findings shared in real time.
The service aims to accelerate patients’ access to ORL expertise without requiring repeated visits to the referral hospital for suitable cases.
In addition, the collaboration enables faster treatment decisions through discussions with specialists.
The initiative also reflects Hospital Batu Gajah’s efforts to leverage digital technology to improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare delivery.
Hospital Batu Gajah hopes the approach can be expanded throughout the Ipoh cluster and subsequently to other hospitals across Perak.
The implementation of the teleconsultation service also involves the cooperation of the HRPB ORL Department, medical specialists, medical officers, assistant medical officers, nurses and staff from both hospitals.
The initiative is expected to expand access to medical expertise while ensuring that the community receives higher-quality, more efficient and patient-centred healthcare services.
