GERIK – The Perak State Government is addressing telecommunications coverage issues affecting approximately 4,700 residents across 15 villages in Pos Kemar.
Perak State Executive Councillor for Communications, Mohd Azlan Helmi, said stable internet connectivity was essential to support education, daily activities and communication during emergencies.
He said a field visit was conducted with fellow state executive councillor Dato’ Salbiah Mohamed, who is also the Temengor State Assemblyman, to hear residents’ concerns firsthand.

The visit to six villages found that network coverage in several areas remained weak and frequently disrupted.
This was despite the presence of three existing telecommunications towers in the area.
He said telecommunications provider CelcomDigi had taken note of the issue and would conduct a fresh assessment.

The assessment aims to identify appropriate improvement measures to address the coverage problems as soon as possible.
Mohd Azlan said reliable telecommunications services were crucial to ensuring rural communities were not left behind in the digitalisation process.
He stressed that the Perak State Government remained committed to listening to public concerns and ensuring every community had access to adequate digital connectivity.
The initiative is expected to improve the quality of life of Pos Kemar residents, particularly in education, communications and overall community well-being.
