KUALA LUMPUR – The InnovateZ team from Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) Bagan Datuk, Perak, has been crowned the overall champion of Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026, organised by Samsung Malaysia Electronics.
The team secured the title with its project, TheVisionSense, an innovative headset equipped with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) and ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles and provide real-time audio alerts for individuals with visual impairments.
The innovation is designed to help users navigate their surroundings more safely and independently in their daily lives.
As champions, the team received Samsung products worth up to RM47,000 after outperforming four other finalist teams.
Second prize went to Team iSafePath for its iSafePath 2.0 road safety platform, which earned the team Samsung products worth up to RM30,000.
Team Replast secured third place with its eco-friendly innovation that transforms recycled plastic waste into durable, waterproof construction bricks, receiving Samsung products worth up to RM19,000.
Fourth place was awarded to Team EcoTerraNitro, which received Samsung products worth up to RM10,000, while Team Primates took fifth place with products worth up to RM8,000.
Organised in collaboration with Universiti Malaya, the competition encourages students aged 13 to 15 to apply creativity, critical thinking and technology to address real-world challenges in their communities.
Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026 attracted 106 entries involving 424 students nationwide, with projects developed across four themes: environmental sustainability, sports and technology, healthcare, and education.
The programme continues to empower Malaysia’s younger generation through science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, nurturing young innovators capable of making a positive impact on society.
