MPM, RMN Strengthen Cooperation To Clean Up Tourism Areas In Pulau Pangkor

MANJUNG – Pulau Pangkor’s identity as one of Perak’s premier tourist destinations continues to receive special attention, particularly in terms of environmental cleanliness.

This is because an unclean environment not only spoils the surroundings but also creates a negative perception among visitors.

In this regard, the Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) programme was jointly organised by the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) and the local community through the Western Fleet CIMIC Programme – Community Outreach and Clean-up Programme in Pulau Pangkor.

The initiative also received the cooperation of the Manjung Municipal Council (MPM).

The programme was graced by the presence of the Raja DiHilir of Perak, Raja Iskandar Dzurkarnain Sultan Idris A’fifullah Shah.

MPM played an active role by providing boats and manpower to support clean-up operations at three main locations, namely Pulau Raja, Pulau Giam and Teluk Segadas.

The operations also covered popular tourist areas as well as school grounds, including Pangkor National School and Pangkor Secondary School.

The boats were provided to facilitate the transportation of rubbish from hard-to-reach island areas to designated collection and disposal sites.

The Raja DiHilir of Perak also graciously visited Pulau Raja and Pulau Giam to inspect the clean-up efforts carried out.

Apart from the clean-up activities, the programme was enlivened by traditional skills demonstrations, traditional sports, community handicraft exhibitions and a goodwill luncheon.

The strategic cooperation not only helps improve the cleanliness of tourist areas but also strengthens ties between government agencies, security forces and the local community.

The initiative also reflects a shared commitment to preserving the natural beauty and environmental sustainability of Pulau Pangkor.
