Lubuk Timah Hot Springs

Your visit to Lubuk Timah waterfall, with its green backdrop, is incomplete without taking a dip in its main attraction – the hot springs.

According to naturalists from Japan and Indonesia, the hot springs contain minerals originating from inside the earth. These minerals have properties that are good for the skin. In fact, they are considered the perfect antidotes for certain skin ailments.

Located about six kilometres from Simpang Pulai, along the Simpang Pulai – Cameron Highlands highway, the Lubuk Timah Hot Springs Recreational Centre was established some four years ago.

Running on an environmental-friendly concept, this recreational spot receives over two thousand visitors a month. The crowd is exceptionally huge during weekends and public holidays.

The Lubuk Timah waterfall was originally a dam built during the British colonial era. It was a mini hydro dam to generate electricity for the nearby tin mines. When mining activities slowed down, the site was abandoned. Its remoteness made it a suitable location for communist terrorists to operate from.

If you wish to stay overnight, there are seven chalets, featuring traditional Malay architecture, to choose from.  The cool night air filled with chirping crickets and cicadas plus sounds from the flowing Sungai Chinju will help put your mind to rest and ensure a good night’s sleep.

Cafes, washrooms, gazebos, a futsal field and a karaoke room are available to satisfy your every whim.

A stone’s throw away is the Prelut Adventure Camp which organises extreme and team-building activities, including the very exhilarating flying fox, and jungle trekking.
