Photography Contest

Dishes from Hai Yong Seafood Restaurant, Kampung Sungai Burung, Bagan Datoh took top spots at the “Ipoh Mobile Photography V.2: Food Attacked” contest held recently.

The contest was organised by People of Remarkable Talent (PORT) between August 31 and September 14. A total of 130 photos were submitted to the organisation’s Facebook page for evaluation.

Kin Yue, 32, who works at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), did not expect the picture she captured would win.

“I was surprised when informed that I’d won. I am grateful to the organiser for picking my food picture,” she said. “The contest provides an opportunity for Ipohites to hone their photographic skills while promoting food business,” said Kin Yue who took home a cash prize of RM500 plus a certificate.

Zamari Muhyi, general manager of PORT, said the contest would be continued in view of the overwhelming response.

“It’s beneficial not only to food vendors but to Tourism Perak as it helps promote food products synonymous with Ipoh,” he told reporters after the prize-giving ceremony at Silveritage, Medan Gopeng on Sunday, September 16.

Rashid Petra, 37, won second place with his picture of Mee Ketam taken at Port Ikan Bakar Station 18. He received RM300 and a certificate.
