An Islamic-themed carnival will be held at Stadium Indera Mulia from April 14 till 28.
Perak Islamic Affairs Department Director, Dato’ Mohd Yusop Husin told reporters that the objective was to source funds for religious activities at Muhibbuddin Shah Mosque, Ipoh, during the fasting month of Ramadan (May 5 to June 3).
“Ipoh City Council and Syeun Hotel will assist in organising the event. Sale of religious items, religious talks and forums, charity dinner, fun run, fun ride and related activities will be held throughout the five-day festivity.
“Programmes will be held at the stadium due to limited space at the mosque. We plan to make the carnival an annual event,” he said during a press conference on Friday, March 8 at Syeun Hotel, Ipoh.
Well-known local artistes such as Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza and Hijjaz will perform during the charity dinner.
