Celebrating National Day Under the New Norm

Perak Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu reminded Perakeans to retain their patriotic spirit and nurture unity without selective race or religion.

In line with this year’s National Day theme ‘Malaysiaku Prihatin’ (Thoughtful Malaysia), he said that every individual should have an equal opportunity to attain success and create better progress.

“To ensure continuous patriotic spirit and values among Malaysians, the 2020 National Month will be approached both physically and digitally,” Faizal told reporters in the state-level Jalur Gemilang and National Month launching ceremony recently.

“Following the COVID-19 pandemic, the celebration this year will undeniably be different,” he added. “Nevertheless, programmes will be held according to health and safety control by authorities.”

Five programmes were lined up for the National Day celebration, which are Merdeka Moment, Merdeka Community Bonding, Colorful Merdeka Contest, Merdeka Talk and ‘Bicara Kemerdekaan Dan Doa Untuk Malaysia’ (Independence Talk and Prayer for Malaysia).

“These programmes will be executed with adherence to standard operating procedures during the ongoing Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO),” Faizal mentioned.

He also said that the Jalur Gemilang is a national symbol and shall be respected by all walks of life without any conflicts.

“Let’s make the National Month a tradition to express our gratitude as Malaysians,” Faizal expressed.
