Online Arts Festival

The Amanjaya Arts Colony, better known as People of Remarkable Talents (P.O.R.T.), is organising the 2021 Ipoh International Arts Festival (IIAF) Pre-Fest online, starting tomorrow (December 12) until December 20, which is in line with the new normal.

Usually, IIAF is held at large scale to attract 10,000 visitors comprising artists and art lovers, local and abroad.

According to general manager of P.O.R.T., Nur Hanim Mohamed Khairuddin, IIAF is part of a commitment in continuously bringing in development despite the ongoing Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) to control the spread of COVID-19.

It is also to put forth Ipoh as one of the many cities that has an annual festival organised to attract tourists, art lovers, cultural researchers and collectors from the nation and beyond.

“The pre-fest is held with ‘Budi: Expanding Traditions’ as the running theme. Apart from commendable moral values derived from the Sanskrit Malay word, ‘Bhuddi’, it centres around sublimity, humility and wisdom.

“The eight-day programme is a joint effort between P.O.R.T., The National Art Gallery, Singapore Art Museum, The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur, Universiti Malaysia Kelantan and Universiti Sains Malaysia.

“We’ll be utilising Facebook for the livestream, in which the recorded material will be uploaded to our YouTube channel,” she said in a media statement released today (December 11).
