Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin via a virtual launch today (February 16) unveiled the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme Guidebook and website (vaksincovid.gov.my) where the document can be downloaded.
According to Muhyiddin, the guidebook was published to provide further details regarding the immunisation programme for the reference of policymakers, those in enforcement and also the people.
“Vaccines produced by Pfizer and BioNTech will arrive in Malaysia on February 21. The rollout will begin on February 26 where I will be vaccinated on the same day together with frontliners,” he explained.
As announced before, the national COVID-19 immunisation programme comprises 3 phases. The first phase involves frontliners and will take place from February 26 till April.
The second phase, involving high risk groups, is set to begin from April to August. Meanwhile, the third phase involving adults of age 18 and above is to begin May till February 2022.
“The comprehensive immunisation programme is to ensure that herd immunity is achieved in the community in order to break the chain of transmission and ultimately end the pandemic,” he added.
He reminded all that vaccination is vital to protect ourselves as well as our loved ones.
It is in line with the programme’s slogan which was also formally introduced today: “Protect Yourself, Protect All”.
