Flower Petals Chosen As Wanita Perak’s Logo

The Perak State Women and Community Development Secretariat (Wanita Perak) now possesses a corporate image, as a flower-shaped logo of six petals was chosen as its official identity yesterday (March 17).

The logo, which depicts women’s beauty and tenderness, was created by Saiful Akmal Mohd Saadi.

Its launching ceremony was graced by the Menteri Besar of Perak, Dato’ Saarani Mohamad at the banquet hall of the state secretariat building, also witnessed by the Executive Councillor for Women and Family Development, Social Welfare and NGO, Datuk Dr Wan Noorashikin Wan Noordin.

The logo was chosen from 100 participants of the Wanita Perak logo creation competition which took place from March 1 to 10, before a few creative works were shortlisted.

Wanita Perak, which has been operating since January 1 this year, is an institute dedicated to handle issues regarding women and family development, welfare and social well-being in general.

Meanwhile, Wan Noorashikin said that the logo portrays the mission and vision of Wanita Perak, apart from the tender yet strong image of a woman.

“Each petal is derived from the alphabet ‘W’ which means women and ‘M’ which means ‘masyarakat’ (society). The petals were arranged in repetition to signify the core focuses of Wanita Perak’s portfolio.

“The six core focuses are ‘Wanita Kepemimpinan’ (women in leadership), ‘Wanita Pertahan’ (women in defence), ‘Wanita Keusahawanan’ (women in entrepreneurship), ‘Wanita Insan’ (women in humanity), ‘Wanita Kesihatan’ (women in health) and ‘Masyarakat Lestari’ (sustainable society),” she explained.

Wan Noorashikin further elaborated that the petals are interspersed in colours, signifying equality in all walks of life. All three colours used are of significance to the state of Perak.

“Yellow symbolises the uphold of sovereignty; silver is Perak in Malay, while ‘dusty pink’ is a colour synonymous to women,” she mentioned.
