Fire Extinguisher Exploded, Three Victims Involved

An incident involving an explosion of a fire extinguisher occurred at a shop lot along Jalan Hussin Nordin at Taman Pearl in Ipoh earlier today (May 5).

According to a spokesperson for the Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM), an emergency call was received at around 5.09pm.

“A squad from the Ipoh Fire and Rescue Station was immediately rushed to the scene.

“Three victims were involved, with one sustaining serious injuries on his right leg while the others sustained minor injuries.

“It was understood that they were refilling the fire extinguishers when the explosion occurred.

“Preliminary treatment was given to the victims before they were handed over to health staff for further action,” he explained.

The operation which ended at around 5.39pm was led by Senior Fire Officer II Mathavan.

The spokesperson added that the cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
