Residential Homes of Storm Victims at Kampung Tasek Repaired

Several residential homes of storm victims at Kampung Tasek, Bercham had been repaired, as ordered by Menteri Besar, Dato’ Saarani Mohamad during his visit to the area early April.

The repair process included building new roofs for houses with major damage due to the strong wind.

It brought relief for the residents in the month of Ramadan and in view of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Following Saarani’s visit, on April 19, the Kinta Land and District Office via the State Financial Officer issued a special direct negotiation order for repair works to proceed as soon as possible.

A total of four construction companies were appointed to facilitate repair works involving some 135 homes, which included 8 additional units of homes from the initial count of 127 homes.

Following the appointment, restoration works began on April 25, and by April 28, almost half of the affected homes were repaired.

Prior to this, the Menteri Besar announced during his site visit that the repair of the 127 houses damaged by the storm would be subsidised fully by the state government via a special allocation totalling RM200,000.

Damage assessment would be done by the Kinta Land and District Office to determine the types of damage while the aid would be channelled via Yayasan Perak for full repairs.
