CGPA Improvement in STPM 2020 Examination

The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) 2020 examination recorded an increase of 0.01 to 2.78 compared to 2.77 in 2019.

Member of the Malaysian Examinations Council (MPM), Prof Datuk Dr. Wahid Razzaly said that a total of 741 candidates scored a CGPA of 4.0 compared to 804 candidates last year.

“Out of that number, a total of 554 candidates (STPM 2020) who achieved a CGPA of 4.0 are from B40 families.

“The overall CGPA achievements of candidates from urban areas still surpassed the candidates from rural areas,” he said during a virtual press conference on the announcement of STPM 2020 results today (July 1).

Out of 44,704 candidates who registered for the STPM examination, a total of 42,893 candidates sat for the examination.

According to him, the overall achievements of STPM candidates is still the same compared to last year, with only an increment of 0.01 points.

He said the increase did not reflect a significant difference to the achievement of the STPM candidates as a whole.
