Elderly Can Walk-In for Vaccination

Starting next week, senior citizens who have not yet received the COVID-19 vaccine will no longer have to wait as they can go directly or ‘walk in’ for vaccination.

The initiative of the concept of ‘walk-in’ vaccination for the elderly will be expanded to the whole country.

The implementation of the programme was decided by the COVID-19 Immunisation Special Task Force (CITF) at a meeting today (August 2).

National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK) Coordinating Minister, Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said the state CITF is given the authority to determine the implementation date and the vaccination centre (PPV) involved.

He said the initiative was specifically for senior citizens who have not received their first dose of vaccine.

“I understand that some states have begun the initiative and some states are ready to implement it,” he said at the CITF weekly press conference today.

Previously, a similar concept was implemented in the Klang Valley where senior citizens who have not been vaccinated can go to any PPV without an appointment for their first dose.
