RM100,000 to Help Storm Victims in Lumut and Beruas

The Perak state government has channeled assistance of RM100,000 to repair the houses of victims affected by the storm around Lumut and Beruas last week.

Menteri Besar, Dato’ Saarani Mohamad said the amount was channeled for roof repair works and some other damages suffered by the victims.

According to him, the effects of the disaster were quite severe and many houses were damaged either by the wind or destroyed by fallen trees.

“Several small traders’ shops were also damaged. There are also damaged suraus. Areas near the coast are among the worst affected.

“Previously, I have asked the district office to provide immediate assistance to alleviate the burden of the affected families,” said Saarani via a post on his Facebook page yesterday (September 26).

The Menteri Besar who visited the site to inspect the residents’ homes also expressed his sympathy for the tragedy.

“While I was there, the residents expressed their sadness over the incident.

“I asked for their patience with this test. God willing, some of the repair work have already started and the rest will be implemented as soon as possible,” he said.

At the same time, Saarani also informed that several houses and premises in other districts were also involved and his party had requested that the district disaster management committee conduct surveillance for appropriate action.
