The organisation of Ipoh International Art Festival (IIAF) 2021 highlights a clear message to the community that art can play an equally vital role as other professional fields.
Menteri Besar of Perak, Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad said that the art exhibition taught us to further appreciate art and creativity as life inspiration besides highlighting uniqueness.
“I’m confident, with the support of various parties including artists, agencies and companies of both government and private, this art festival will be able to recur every year and become an anticipated event,” he said during the officiating ceremony of IIFA 2021 at PORT, Ipoh yesterday.
Present were Executive Councillor for Housing, Local Government and Tourism, Dato’ Nolee Ashilin binti Dato’ Mohammed Radzi and General Manager of PORT, Nur Hanim Mohamed Khairuddin.
According to Saarani, besides being an attraction every year-end, this festival can be a meeting point for various generations and ethnicities to learn, understand and respect respective cultures and faiths.
He added that in line with this year’s festival theme, “Budi: Expanding Traditions”, noble actions, humility and wisdom in facing new global challenges should be highlighted via creative artwork and spread to the public.
The festival, which is held for the second time, also receives cooperation from the Japan Foundation, Ipoh City Council and Kuala Lumpur City Hall, in addition to support from the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia via Tourism Malaysia and the National Art Gallery.
