Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands is Still Closed by JKR

The Public Works Department (JKR) of Kinta District via a notice on its Facebook page informed that Laluan Persekutuan FT185 Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands Seksyen 27 is still closed.

This supersedes the recent statement from the Executive Councillor for Infrastructure, Energy, Water and Public Transportation, Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun saying the route is safe to be used and was to reopen beginning December 17.

The notice stated that the Expert Branch that conducted inspection at the area found that the slope condition still made the route unsafe to be used by vehicles until landslide cleaning works are completed fully.

“The closure notice is continued starting yesterday till a date to be informed later.

“Road users can use the alternative route, Jalan Persekutuan FT059 Jalan Tapah-Cameron Highlands temporarily. Any inconvenience is deeply regretted,” the statement highlighted yesterday.

Road users are also reminded to plan their journey and abide by the instruction of the authorities and safety sign boards at the site.

On December 2, two deaths were reported after their respective vehicles, a Toyota Alphard and a lorry, were buried in a landslide that led to the closure of the route to all types of vehicles.
