Contributions in conjunction with Chinese New Year via the MBI Prihatin (MBI Cares) programme brought cheers to 88 residents at two areas under the responsibility of MBI Council Member for Zone 2 (Hulu Kinta), Puteri Holijah Muhamad Rali.
According to Puteri Holijah, most of the residents at the two areas involved, namely Changkat Kinding and Kampung Lim Tan, are made up of the elderly who should be cared for especially during the Chinese New Year which will be celebrated next week.
“The MBI Cares programme not only helps the targeted groups, it also provides opportunities for the residents to voice their problems.
“On behalf of MBI, I express my gratitude to Mayor Dato’ Rumaizi Baharin @ Md Daud who is always caring towards the needy.
“The contributions in the form of basic food necessities have brought much joy to them. At the very least, we can reduce their burden of expenses during the festive season,” she told Ipoh Echo during the programme today.
Resident Representative Committee (JPP) of Changkat Kinding, Wong Chin Siang said the contributions reflect the concern of MBI and the Mayor towards the residents, especially the elderly.
“The pandemic has impacted the underprivileged and the unfortunate, thus the recipients are overjoyed upon receiving the contributions which can lessen their burdens,” he said after facilitating a total of 48 recipients at his area.
Meanwhile, the village chief of Kampung Lim Tan, Eddy Chao, is thankful to MBI for going on site to deliver the contributions.
“MBI Council Member, Puteri Holijah not only presented the contributions, she also listened to the laments of residents and provided explanations as well as solutions.
“On behalf of the villagers, I wish everyone a happy and safe Chinese New Year. I hope we always practise the standard operating procedures to curb the outbreak effectively,” Eddy, who represented 40 recipients of his area, said.
